UNDERBANK Rangers welcome Hindley to The Cross tomorrow, hoping to continue their winning National Conference League Division III run and put last weekend’s poor performance at Peterlee behind them.

Despite claiming a 42-18 triumph, it was not the result Rangers wanted after having beaten the Pumas 132-0 the month before.

As a result, coach Richard Knight has been working his players hard throughout training this week to make sure there’s a return to form against a Hindley side they beat 34-12 earlier in the season.

“I think the Peterlee performance was the worst we’ve produced this season,” said Knight.

“Every team is going to have a poor performance at least once in a season and I hope that was ours out of the way.

“Our attitude was really poor and I was disappointed with that.

“We spoke about not being complacent and not underestimating them, but we did and I wasn’t happy about that and the boys know it.

“Saying that, they have worked really hard in training this week to make up for it and, at the end of the day, we still came away with two points and that’s how we’ve got to look at it.”

The Coach also admits his team is struggling on the injury front.

“Just as we welcome three or four back, we lose three or four, so we’re having quite a tough time at the moment,” he revealed.

“Dan Farrand, Jordan Williams and Craig Williams are all out this week and Dave Pawson is touch and go, but we do welcome back Michael Lang, Sam Blayden, Rob Joyce and Lee St Hilaire.

“So we know we’re going to have to be on the ball against Hindley.

“When we last visited them earlier in the year, I think we played the best we had up until that point in the season.

“They gave us a tough game and they are a decent team.

“It was all in the balance with about 20 minutes to go until Andy Boothroyd came on and changed the game.

“We ended up walking away with a couple of tries towards the end and winning it quite convincingly, but it was tough there so it will be tough at home and we need to make sure we turn up and do the right thing.”

Underbank will be selling £10 match passes ahead of tomorrow’s game, which means supporters can watch the last four home games for £2.50, instead of the usual £4 matchday admission.
