It's only five games into the new Pennine League season.

But Underbank Rangers are already about to play a potential Second Division title decider!

While leaders Underbank have made an unbeaten start to the season, Wakefield-based CK Vikings are hot on their heels with four wins and a draw to their name.

And with the two clubs clashing in Wakefield on Saturday, the outcome could prove decisive in the battle to claim the division’s crown.

Underbank are certainly in a rich vein of form, having destroyed third-placed Greetland All Rounders 50-10 last weekend, and with the Vikings having struggled to overcome mid-table Wibsey Warriors 16-6 at the same time, an away win could definitely be on the cards.

There’s also a crucial Division VI West top-of-the-table clash for second-placed Meltham All Blacks, who will be hoping to make home advantage count against unbeaten leaders Victoria Rangers A.

And after last weekend’s narrow defeat at Odsal Sedbergh – their first in four starts – the All Blacks will be desperate to bounce straight back.

Newsome Panthers and St Joseph’s have also made encouraging starts to their season, with two Championship I wins out of three, and they’ll be looking to build on that tally this weekend when they tackle mid-table opponents.

Joe’s boast home advantage against Allerton Bywater, while the Panthers travel to Dewsbury Moor. Both will be disappointed if they slip up.

Lindley Swifts face arguably the most challenging assignment this weekend when they entertain unbeaten First Division leaders Stainland Stags, so they will be hoping facing the early pacesetters will bring the best out of them.

At the same time, two Huddersfield clubs are in Supplementary Cup first-round action.

In-form Emley Moor ran riot in beating Wortley Dragons 74-6 in Division IV, and that will put them in very confident mood ahead of the home tie with struggling fellow Fourth Division side Farnley Falcons.

But Division V side Slaithwaite Saracens know they face a potentially far tougher test at mid-table Division IV side Wakefield City.
