UNDERBANK slumped to their fourth defeat of the Conference National season, losing 28-16 at Dewsbury Celtic.

Despite picking up a bonus point, Aaron Perrin's team remain too close to the foot for comfort.

Prior to the game the player-coach expressed concern over a lack of discipline shown in the defeat by Featherstone Lions and warned his players: "Cut out the penalties or else!"

But after Bank's latest setback, the Australian said mistakes were still being made.

"It's very basic things we are falling short on," he admitted.

"We're making simple errors pushing passes around.

"We've just got to work on our ball control and get more options when we are attacking.

"If we get these things right then the points will come for us."

With strong challenges and quick forward runs, it was the visitors who started in the more positive fashion and were rewarded on five minutes when Perrin crossed and Carl Leach goaled.

On 15 and 17 minutes however, poor interpassing while attacking resulted in two simple and identical tries for Celtic's Danny Thomas.

Both times, he managed to snatch the ball and sprint the length of the field to touch down, with James Etherley goaling one.

A Matt Hirst try and Leach conversion gave the visitors a 12-10 lead at half-time.

But Thomas claimed his hat trick on 52 minutes, using his pace to score yet another deserved try.

In a 10-minute spell, Celtic took a firm grip with tries by James Gardner and Steve McNamara and a penalty and two goals.

On 72 minutes, Peter Adam grabbed a consolation try for Underbank.

Perrin's men host Hemel on Saturday and the team chief added: "It's crucial we get a victory under our belts."
