DOMINANT Underbank have the chance to cap off a scintillating season by claiming the National Conference III minor champions crown at Nottingham Outlaws tomorrow.

One point in their final league fixture will see them finally run out of reach of second-placed Hemel Stags.

And throughout the regular 2012 campaign, Bank have expressed all the qualities of a championship-winning side, losing only twice at the hands of their southern-based title rivals.

A remarkable 15 wins means the men from Holmfirth are on the brink of entering next month’s play-offs in pole position which will ensure a home tie in the first round.

But coach Richard Knight has warned that the job is not yet done as tomorrow’s opponents prepare for their own do-or-die match.

Nottingham currently rest in sixth, but anything less than a win on Saturday could see St Albans overtake them in the league ladder and snatch the final play-off spot.

“This’s what it’s come down to,” said Knight. “One game to go and a win against Nottingham will make us minor champions and, most importantly, give us that home tie in the play-offs.

“We’re feeling pretty good and we’ve been playing pretty good recently and getting some good wins. We had last week off so we trained last week and trained again this week so we look fresh.

“But Nottingham have it all to play for as well. If they beat us then they will finish in the play-offs and if they lose to us then they won’t, so it’s a big game for them. In that respect, it’s the biggest game of their season’.

When Rangers entertained the Outlaws at The Cross last month they exhibited their class as they ran out 74-0 winners.

But with circumstances having changed and everything to play for, Knight is certain there will be no repeat of the rout, despite having a strong-looking team at his disposal.

“There’s no such thing as an easy game, and when Nottingham came to us we played really well but unfortunately for them, they were missing nine regular first team players,” he added.

“If we had nine regular first-team players out then we would be depleted and we would struggle as well.

“But everyone looks fit this week. We’ve just got a slight injury worry with Neil Barrett who had to pull out of training on Wednesday.

“Yet knowing Baz as I know him, I think he’ll definitely want to play tomorrow with him missing the last three games. Apart from that we are looking strong.”
