PAUL ANDERSON is ready to bring a winning mentality to the Giants.

After signing off his playing career by helping St Helens win the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford in October, the 35-year-old (pictured) has now settled straight into a new life as a staff coach at Huddersfield.

By his own admission, he is being introduced to his new life as a Giant slowly but surely.

But he already feels comfortable in his new role - and new environment - and is relishing the big challenges that undoubtedly lie ahead.

The former Great Britain prop arrives at the Galpharm after spending the vast majority of his Super League career at champion teams St Helens and Bradford Bulls.

During his glittering playing career he has tasted World Club Challenge and Challenge Cup final glory, as well as success on the Super League front.

And he is hoping that success can rub off on the Giants.

"I would obviously love to think so," said the Normanton-based Anderson.

"I made my decision that I would be retiring as a player fairly early last season, so I've been preparing for this new role for quite some time. I certainly don't feel I've come here cold.

"Obviously, it is a little daunting moving clubs and having to switch from player to coach.

"But I already feel at home here and I'm enjoying what I'm doing.

"Because of my background, I'll be spending a fair bit of my time looking after the big fellas.

"And there are some big fellas at the Giants, that's for sure.

"Jon (Sharp) has gone for more size in his squad for 2007, and you can't say he's failed.

"I really feel the Huddersfield pack will have a lot to offer next season.

"As well as being big, they will be fit, strong and athletic, and they could take some handling."
