LATE calls will be the order of the day for both of the Giants' Academy sides in action this weekend.
The Junior Academy are on Championship duty at St Helens tonight looking to build on last week's magnificent 44-16 victory over Warrington Wolves.
And the Senior Academy take centre stage tomorrow when they host Wigan at the DRAM Centre (2.00).
But it is injuries to players in the Super League squad that is causing a delay in respective team announcements.
Until the current health of the senior players is known - it is tough given the punishing Easter schedule - a Senior Academy line-up can't be named.
And if very few first-team players are available, then several members of the Junior side may have to be pulled out of the squad to face St Helens at the last minute, ready to play against Wigan tomorrow instead.
Already expected to be ruled out for the Under 21s is hooker Matt Whitaker with a shin injury.
But the good news is that Super League back-rower Paul Smith is already closing in on a return for the Seniors in the next two weeks following groin surgery.
He will be expected to ease his way back into action with at least one run-out for the Under 21s before pushing for a first-team return.
