HUDDERSFIELD Giants are today celebrating the naming of two players in the Great Britain squad!

Prop Eorl Crabtree and stand-off Chris Thorman have been included in an initial Lions squad of 40 for this autumn's Gillette Tri-Nations tournament against Australia and New Zealand in Britain.

And Giants coach and Great Britain No2 Jon Sharp has also revealed that Paul Reilly came within a whisker of making it a trio of Huddersfield players to be named for the Lions.

But the fact the Giants have two players in the reckoning as the first from the Huddersfield club to play for Great Britain since Ken Loxton in 1971 is something that makes Sharp immensely proud.

"I'm absolutely delighted for Eorl and Chris," said Sharp.

"Their selection is a further acknowledgement of our club's progression and how this team has been playing over the last couple of years.

"And the two of them needed to be very, very good to be picked.

"Because I'm their club coach as well as being GB assistant coach, I've had to be doubly sure they deserved to be included.

"But Brian Noble is a big fan of both players and, ultimately, he has the final say.

"Brian's also an admirer of Paul Reilly, and it's true to say that he came desperately close to being included as well.

"Unfortunately, we have two of the world's best full-backs in Wellens and Radlinski, while others in the squad can provide cover.

"But I do intend to keep a close eye on his form."
