THIS certainly has to go down as a much better Huddersfield Giants performance than the last one we produced in front of the Sky TV cameras at Salford!

But it's still disasppointing to come up with the same result.

I was really pleased with the way we challenged such a good side as Hull on their own patch.

I thought we matched them all the way, and given the fact that we had players of the quality of De Vere, Gene, Jones and Roarty sitting in the stand, it was a good all-round effort.

As I said, it's just a shame that the effort wasn't rewarded with a win.

I felt it was a game where two outstanding attacking sides were keen to test each other out.

And it was just a pity that there were so many penalties.

That really hit us hard in the decisive third quarter when we were on the wrong end of a 6-1 count and Hull made us pay by opening up a match-winning lead.

There were still positives to take from the game, in particular the debut of Lee Greenwood, who already looks like a good acquisition.
