I COULDN’T really start anywhere else than by thanking the Giants fans for their magnificent support last weekend.
It’s great that I’m in a position to give you, the supporters, a special mention, because you helped create a great atmosphere down at Harlequins, with our fans making up such a large percentage of the crowd on the day.
It was brilliant to see so many people from Huddersfield there and it was really appreciated by every single one of us.
And obviously the icing on the cake was such a great Challenge Cup triumph.
Overall, I thought we played well, which was vital.
We knew it was going to be tough for the first 20 minutes as they were probably looking for a bit of revenge after what we had done to them in Super League at the Galpharm less than a fortnight before.
The boys really stuck into the arm wrestle and we got some points towards the back end of the first half and, once again, finished the game quite strongly.
But we feel there is plenty more still to come from us, and we know there’s a lot of improvement left to make.
We made some errors in the game against Harlequins and for a 10 to 15 minute period in the game in the second half we were slightly disappointing.
And that’s something we’ll be looking to avoid tonight when we entertain Celtic Crusaders.
Although they haven’t picked up a win so far, they are going to get that elusive first victory at some point, and we don’t want to be the side that lowers our guard against them because they have a number of quality players.
They’re possibly going to be lacking a bit of confidence at the moment and the opening 20 minutes are going to be key for us to make sure we produce some pretty dominant football.
It’s not necessarily about scoring points straight away, it’s about dictating the way that we want to play the game and doing what we need to do to make it win No6 in Super League.
Still loving it here!
SEVEN games into the Super League season and one successful Challenge Cup clash, and I’m delighted to say I’m still absolutely loving it!
I can’t believe how much I’m enjoying all the mateship and camaraderie. The bunch of blokes here really are pretty special.
And it’s great to be winning games as we are doing at the moment and it’s a thoroughly enjoyable place to be.
Everyone down from the coaching staff to the people within the club are really positive at the moment and there’s no doubt we are heading in a good direction.
This is definitely the place to be!
