WHAT a result at Wakefield last weekend!

Obviously, I would have loved to have been out there, but it was still really pleasing to watch.

Everyone seemed to show up well against a Wakefield side who had started the season well, although I’m sure their players would be the first to acknowledge they were way below their best against us.

Holding them to zero was probably the most pleasing thing for us, combined with some really clinical attacking play which saw us come away with the win.

Kevin Brown, below, played very well, and he was probably our best player in defeat to Warrington last week, too.

I’m delighted with what Kev’s doing for the team this year and I thought Paul Whatuira was also outstanding. He was great in attack and did a lot of good things.

All the boys are really standing up to be counted and I think that’s showing in performances, which has put everyone in great heart ahead of Sunday’s big home game against Leeds.

The Rhinos are a very good side who have deservedly been crowned Super League champions for the past three seasons.

They have a lot of quality within their squad and have come off the back of a good performance in the World Club Challenge.

Although they were beaten by Melbourne Storm, I’m sure they will have taken some confidence out of that game.

They also put Harlequins to the sword last weekend and I’m sure they will be fully focused on what promises to be a great match.

We might not have fared too well against the Rhinos in previous years.

But we have certainly got the belief that we can get the better of them, whereas a couple of years ago if you would have asked the guy’s then perhaps they would have been happy to have come close to beating them.

We are a much-improved side, and the confidence is there that we can play some good footy against any team.

As far as my ankle injury goes, my rehabilitation is progressing reasonably well.

I’d obviously love to be at 100% but that’s not quite the case, although with a bit of luck I’ll strive to be available as soon as possible and work hard with physio Nathan Mill to get myself back out on the field.
