GIANTS captain Ben Roarty has not ruled out a return to action before the end of the season.

The popular Australian knows he faces a major race against time to be fit before the end of the campaign following neck surgery a fortnight ago.

But he has made it clear that he intends to do everything within his power to be back to lead the Giants before the end of 2005.

"I've been told it usually takes 10 to 12 weeks to be able to play again after such surgery," said Roarty.

"But if there's any slight chance I could play before then, that's what I intend to do.

"It's just a case of waiting to see, looking after myself and then reassessing the situation in the next few weeks.

"The next step is to resume training next week and see how it goes. I would obviously love to be back for the last few games."

Roarty, Michael De Vere (hand) and Paul Reilly (ban) are already ruled out of Sunday's game at London (3.00), while there will be late checks on Stanley Gene (knee) and Stuart Jones (ankle).

Huddersfield will be able to call on the services of James Evans and Chris Nero for the trip to the capital after they were cleared of a spear tackle on Ewan Dowes during the 34-24 defeat at Hull on Saturday. The incident had been placed on report.

Meanwhile, the Giants are celebrating three members of their Junior Academy squad being named in the Yorkshire Under 17s side to face Lancashire in an Origin squad later this month.

Leroy Cudjoe, Luke George and Chris Lawson will play for the White Rose county in an 11.45 curtain-raiser to the Leeds versus Toulouse Challenge Cup semi-final clash at the Galpharm Stadium on Sunday, July 31.

There's a lot at stake for the players involved, with places in the England squad to face Australia latter in the year up for grabs.
