CASTLEFORD have been something of a surprise package at the start of Super League XIV.

After finishing bottom of the table last season, when they claimed just seven wins from 27 starts, the Tigers have opened 2009 with three victories out of four.

Their first success was a stunning 28-22 triumph at Wigan, followed by a whopping 52-16 home win over Salford City Reds and then last week’s thrilling 24-22 triumph at Catalans Dragons.

Their only defeat has been a narrow reverse at home to Harlequins.

As a result, coach Terry Matterson’s side find themselves third in the League ladder, just two points behind unbeaten leaders Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC.
