HUDDERSFIELD Giants have unveiled their squad numbers for Super League X.
They provide the clearest indication so far as to the way coach Jon Sharp sees his players lining up for the start of the campaign.
And the numbers allocated hardly come as a surprise.
Three of the new signings are included in the first 13.
Australian Test centre Michael De Vere takes possession of the No4 shirt, while stand-off Chris Thorman is No6 and hooker Brad Drew has been given his wish of gaining the No9 jersey.
The relatively late arrival of fellow new recruit Paul Jackson is reflected in the fact he is named at No21, although his rock-solid performance in the pre-season clash at Bradford Bulls on Sunday suggests he will appear far higher up the pecking order when the Giants get under way at Leigh on Saturday week.
With Thorman named at No6, Stanley Gene takes over the No13 shirt vacated by Brandon Costin.
That suggests Gene could be earmarked as the Giants first-choice loose-forward in 2005.
But Huddersfield head coach Jon Sharp has made it clear that shouldn't be taken for granted, or any other positions for that matter.
"These numbers give a fair indication of what role players will be playing this season," said Sharp.
"But everyone knows I've never been a great fan of pigeon-holing players, and that's not about to change.
"The fact that Stanley, for instance, is at No13 does mean he could be playing at loose-forward at certain stages of the season.
"However, he played at centre at Bradford on Sunday and didn't let the side down, so who knows?
"Nothing is certain."
