GIANTS centre Ben Cooper, pictured, has joined top National League I side Leigh on a month's loan.

The 25-year-old has been restricted to six first-team appearances this season, four of which have come from the bench.

But he has not featured in the Super League side for over a month and has instead spent his time in the Senior Academy.

That's a situation which has now been remedied, with Cooper immediately called into Leigh's first-team squad to travel to Barrow for tomorrow's Arriva Trains Cup quarter-final clash.

"This move is probably just what Ben needs right now," said Giants coach Jon Sharp.

"It's the opportunity for him to get some first-team football under his belt, which is something we haven't been able to give him here in recent months. Hopefully it will give him a timely boost."
