ANDY RALEIGH has praised the work of conditioner Ben Cooper after the Giants’ strong finish in last Sunday’s Super League victory at Castleford Tigers.
Huddersfield were forced to dig deep to secure a 40-14 triumph, with three of their six tries coming in the final eight minutes.
Superior fitness clearly had a major role to play in the way the Giants completed the contest.
And Raleigh believes it’s time to pay credit to former Giants utility back Cooper (pictured right) for getting the players into such good shape.
“Fitness is now such a crucial part of the game,” said the 27-year-old, who switched from prop to his usual back-row berth at Castleford to accommodate fit-again front-rower Eorl Crabtree.
“We clearly had the edge over Castleford in that area because of the strong way in which we finished the game.
“But that’s something that doesn’t come with luck, it’s something you have to work on extremely hard.
“That finish was down to the hours and hours of hard work each player has to do in the gym, and Coops has been fantastic at making sure the gym work has been fresh
“He’s made sure we’re not doing the same thing week in, week out, and that’s helped keep us motivated.”
