EORL CRABTREE believes the team spirit within the England camp could be the key to Four Nations success against Australia at Wigan today (2.30).

A Leeds-St Helens split in the national camp was cited as one of the reasons for England’s dismal showing in last autumn’s World Cup in Australia.

But as Giants prop Crabtree prepares to face the Kangaroos for the first time, he admits he has been impressed with the togetherness of the England squad and feels that could make all the difference in the world.

“I’m still relatively new to this squad and there aren’t exactly that many Giants players in the camp,” said Crabtree.

“But I still feel very much at home in the group.

“I’ve always loved mingling with players from different clubs, and I get on really well with everyone.

“From day one I was welcomed with open arms and I definitely feel a part of this squad.

“The team spirit is great and we all enjoy each other’s company, and that’s something that could prove crucial today.

“I know we’ll all be prepared to knuckle down for each other, which is vitally important when you know you’re going to be competing in a tough game.

“And they don’t come much tougher than a game against Australia.”
