GIANTS star Chris Thorman has admitted he was more pleased for Eorl Crabtree than for himself when they heard they had been called up to the Great Britain train-on squad.

It was the second time Thorman had received the Lions' call, with his first coming in 2003 after producing a man-of-the-match performance for Yorkshire against Lancashire at Odsal.

But Thorman feels the fact that it is the first time Crabtree has received senior Great Britain recognition makes it even more special for the young prop.

"I was obviously delighted to be named in the squad," said Thorman.

"But I was even more pleased to hear Eorl had been picked, because it is a call that is thoroughly deserved.

"The way he has improved in the last few years is fantastic, and that's down to his excellent attitude.

"Eorl has, of course, played for Great Britain at Academy level, which in itself is a magnificent achievement.

"But going on to make it up to the senior squad is the icing on the cake.

"We both know, however, that we now can't rest on our laurels. If we want to make it into the final squad, we're going to have to put in a lot more hard work."
