Danny Brough is confident the Huddersfield Giants can finally prove the doubters wrong and win on the biggest rugby league stage.
A home victory over Leeds Rhinos tonight (8.00) and a win for Castleford at Wigan would hand Huddersfield the Super League Leaders Shield for the second time in three years.
Brough would be delighted to lift the Shield again.
But he knows the time has come for his club to take the next final huge step and secure Super League Grand Final glory at Old Trafford for the first time.
“We know if results go our way tonight we can win the League Leaders’ Shield, and that would be great,” said Brough.
“But that’s not something we’re looking at. We’re just focusing on trying to beat Leeds and securing a home play-off semi-final spot.
“We’re also looking to put in a good performance to make sure we take some real momentum into the semi-finals and give ourselves the best chance of reaching the Grand Final.
“We certainly feel we’re now ready to take that next big step and prove we have what it takes to go all the way.
“There’s no doubt at all we’re good enough, and beating Leeds in a game as big as tonight’s would prove that.
“That would add to our confidence even more ahead of next week’s semi-final.
“We obviously don’t know at this stage who that will be against (either Leeds again, Wigan or St Helens) or where and when, but we know it’s a game we’ll be expecting to win,"
