Returning Danny Brough is confident the Huddersfield Giants can recover from their humiliating 57-4 defeat at Wigan and storm into the last four of the play-offs with an emphatic home win over Catalan Dragons on Friday.
The 31-year-old reigning Super League Man of Steel has missed his side’s last two fixtures after suffering a ruptured testicle during the win over Hull FC.
Huddersfield scraped home 17-16 without him against minor champions St Helens 13 days ago, but he was notable by his absence during the DW Stadium nightmare the following week.
And he’s hoping he’ll be back as part of a winning Giants side tomorrow night as Huddersfield look to move to within 80 minutes of a first Super League Grand Final appearance at Old Trafford.
“I’ve obviously not played for a couple of weeks, so I can’t wait to blow off some cobwebs,” said Brough.
“It was really tough having to watch from the stands last week, so this return can’t come soon enough.
“I felt so disappointed for the lads at Wigan. There were a lot of tired bodies out there after the win over Saints the week before.
“But there should be no excuses in a play-off game not to give it your all.
“We let ourselves and the club down. We’ve another chance to make sure we don’t suffer a disappointing end to the year.”
