NATHAN BROWN believes Danny Brough is becoming a big Giants influence as they get set for another live TV tie in the Carnegie Challenge Cup.

The 26-year-old scrum half has played five games so far, including a key role in Sunday’s 40-12 Cup win over Hull KR which earned a fifth-round clash with Warrington Wolves at the Galpharm.

That repeat of last year’s final will be played on Saturday, May 8, at 2.30 and will be shown live on BBC 1. The Crusaders v Catalans Dragons tie will be screened on BBC2 the following day (3.30).

On Brough, coach Brown said: “We always knew it would take Danny a bit of time to get used to playing in this side, and we’re pleased with the way he’s progressing.

“He didn’t produce his best game against Hull KR, but he played solidly and contributed throughout. It’s a case of trying to educate Broughy that he doesn’t have to have a nine out of 10 game every week, because if you try and do that you can end up getting a three out of 10, which has already happened to him here.

“But on Sunday, he contributed to the team doing well without being the best player out there, and we’re happy about that. That’s what will make Broughy an outstanding signing.”

Brough is again expected to start at scrum half for Sunday’s Super League trip to Crusaders.

All 17 who played against the Robins should be available. But with Michael Lawrence, Scott Grix, Graeme Horne and Larne Patrick in waiting, the Galpharm chief may consider rotating his squad.
