Vastly-experienced David Faiumu feels the Huddersfield Giants are in the perfect position to mount a serious Super League Grand Final challenge.

Huddersfield confirmed their place in the play-offs with their win at Wakefield last time out and could secure a top-four finish with a home win over Widnes this Sunday and successes in their last three fixtures at Warrington and against Hull and St Helens at the John Smith’s Stadium.

And having been a member of the North Queensland Cowboys’ side that faced West Tigers in the 2005 Australian NRL Grand Final, Faiumu knows the Giants have what it takes to go all the way.

“The mood within the group is extremely positive and almost everyone’s in good shape,” said the 31-year-old forward.

“You need both of those if you’re going to achieve something, so I know we can have a really strong finish to the year.

“I’ve seen this club grow stronger and stronger in the six years I’ve been here, and I know we’ve never been in a better position to go all the way to the Grand Final.

“We’re well aware it’s not going to be easy, but we feel it’s well within our grasp.
