FIT-AGAIN Giants winger David Hodgson is determined to finish a season of massive disappointment on a high.

The 27-year-old’s debut year at Huddersfield has been destroyed by injury and he will be making just his seventh appearance of the Super League campaign in tomorrow’s final home game of the season against in-form St Helens (3.00).

But the Great Britain winger is determined to mark the occasion by producing his best display in the claret and gold to make sure he hits the ground running in 2009.

“I’m pleased with the way my form’s been coming together,” said Hodgson, who finally made his eagerly-awaited debut at Saints on June 29 after suffering a serious knee injury in pre-season training.

“To have scored four tries in my first six games is probably about as good as I could have hoped at this stage, but I still know I can do a lot better.

“I’m still trying to settle into the side at the moment and find a bit of form, but I definitely feel as if I’ve got a lot to build on and I hope to be able to give even more to the side against Saints this weekend.”

Hodgson added: “Although there’s been a lot of disappointment this season, there’s a tremendous buzz about the club right now, and if we could back that up with a top performance tomorrow that would be absolutely fantastic.

“Over the last few months our form has been pretty good and we would like to think last week’s defeat to Catalans was just a blip. There would be no better way of proving that than by beating St Helens!

“That’s obviously going to be tough, because they’ve won the last 19 on the trot, but if the fans get behind us like they did last week, I know we can run them close.

“We might not have won last weekend, but the atmosphere against Catalans was brilliant.

“It always feels good when you walk out in front of a big crowd, especially one where so many of the fans are supporting you. I’m sure our fans can make a big difference in this match.”
