PROUD Ken Davy is urging as many of the town's sporting fans as possible to come out in force and make it a weekend to remember.

Huddersfield Giants take centre stage tomorrow with the Super League clash against second-placed Hull at the Galpharm Stadium (3.00).

Then on Sunday, Town host Hull City in a key Coca-Cola League I noon showdown.

It is the first time in sporting history that Huddersfield's two professional clubs have hosted their rivals from Hull over the same weekend.

And Giants chairman and Town owner Davy, pictured, is hoping this unique chain of events is reflected by the turn-outs for the two encounters.

"Hull is a city with a massive sporting heritage, and it can be easily matched by Huddersfield," said Giants chairman and Town owner Davy.

"It is something we, as a town, can again prove this weekend.

"Town and the Giants are about to face two very tough matches, and we are determined to make sure our teams represent the town with pride.

"The outcomes could go either way, but what is for certain is that the more local supporters we have backing our teams, the greater will be our chance of securing a memorable double.

"My message to everyone is to go out and enjoy what promises to be a fantastic weekend of professional sport.

"We have taken steps to ensure it is as easy as possible for fans to watch both games through our special ticket offers.

"I hope they prove a success and as many Huddersfield supporters as possible will be on hand to cheer both sides to victory."

Town season ticket holders will be charged just £5 admission for tomorrow's Giants clash, when a quid-a-kid promotion will also be in operation, while Giants season ticket holders will pay the same price to watch Town in action.

Davy's Super League club is looking to secure victory to halt a run of seven successive defeats.

But despite the slump after a best-ever Super League start, the chairman is remaining upbeat.

"We're all bitterly disappointed with the way things have been going in the last few months," he added.

"But our horrendous injury list has obviously taken its toll.

"There's not one club in the competition that wouldn't have suffered with so many players on the sidelines.

"But the reality is that we have still performed this year successfully better than last and it is the first time in decades we have held a place in the top eight all year in the highest division.

"Whatever happens in our remaining games, we will be able to look back at this Super League season with pride.

"As a club, we are still moving forward in all areas."

For the first time in a Super League fixture, the Giants have taken the step of housing the away fans behind the goalposts in the South Stand.

The move for the Hull fans has been made at the request of Huddersfield supporters.
