TOP Giants signing Michael De Vere has given a massive thumbs-up to his new club.

The Australian Test centre arrived in England last week after nine glorious years at leading Australian NRL side Brisbane Broncos.

But after completing a full week of work with his new club - he has joined on a two-year contract - De Vere believes he has made the perfect choice.

"When you first arrive you obviously don't know exactly what to expect," said the latest Giants arrival.

"But I already believe I've made a good choice in coming to Huddersfield.

"From day one I got a really good feel for the place and that's been reinforced as the days have gone by.

"Everybody has made me so welcome and my teammates are a great bunch of guys.

"The facilities at the Giants' disposal are also fantastic.

"I know about all about the stadium having played here with Australia two years ago.

"But the training facilities are also spot-on. The indoor sports barn is brilliant, the Giants gym has everything we need and the new main training ground at Storthes Hall is impressive.

"The only thing that's made me a little uncomfortable is the cold, wet and blustery weather!

"Luckily, I'm also getting used to that."

And De Vere reports that despite his knee injury, he is able to play an active role at training.

"We're been worked very hard and, fortunately, that includes me," he added.
