HUDDERSFIELD utility back Stuart Donlan has been handed a new one-year Giants contract extension.

The 27-year-old suffered an injury-wrecked 2005 campaign, which restricted him to just 14 Super League appearances.

A groin problem took its toll at the start of the season before a knee injury forced him to miss the last seven games.

But coach Jon Sharp believes there is still a lot more to come from the former Lancashire State of Origin star, and that he deserves another chance.

"Stuart has obviously had a difficult time with injuries," said Sharp.

"But he is now back to full fitness and I am very pleased we have been able to keep him at the Giants.

"He is a hard working and versatile player who can cover all the outside back positions.

"His versatility and great work ethic makes him a very valuable member of our squad".

Former Leigh and Halifax man Donlan has looked at home at full-back, wing and centre and scored four tries in Super League X.
