HUDDERSFIELD Giants have hit full throttle as they begin the final countdown to Super League XI.

The opening game of the new campaign is just six weeks away, with the Giants visiting Leeds Rhinos on Sunday, February 12 (3.00).

Coach Jon Sharp and his players are now increasing their workload on the training field after spending much of the earlier time working on strength and fitness.

Geoff Evans, the club's Head of Athletic Performance, has been pleased with the way the squad have knuckled down to the conditioning programme he has set down.

But now the focus is turning more towards ball work, as these exclusive pictures show.

More sessions are now taking place on the training field, with players starting to work on their combinations before the start of a very busy five-match pre-season programme.

That gets under way, of course, with the trip to Halifax for the traditional Infirmary Cup clash on Monday, January 2 (3.00).

Ten days later, the Giants jet off to Portugal for seven days of warm-weather training.

Three days after that it's a home clash against Bradford Bulls (3.00) before away games at Castleford, Wigan and Batley.
