GIANTS signing Brad Drew will jet in to England on Tuesday with words of encouragement from new teammate James Evans ringing in his ears.

The former Canberra Raiders hooker made a special request to arrive in England early to familiarise himself with his new surroundings before the start of pre-season training in early December.

But before leaving his native Australia he met up with Evans who gave him the low-down on what to expect.

And Drew has already told Giants officials he is delighted by what he has been told.

"I've just spoken to Brad about his trip ahead and it's obvious he can't wait to get here," said Giants football manager Stuart Sheard.

"James returned to Australia for a holiday and made the effort to meet up with Brad to brief him on what to expect.

"And what James had to say has blown him away.

"Brad told me that James had nothing but praise for the way the club operates.

"You can't get a more ringing endorsement than that, and it's certainly eased any lingering doubts Brad may have had about coming here.

"James will arrive back with us in a few more weeks and he's made it clear he's already getting excited about it."

One of Drew's first official engagements when he arrives will be a "Meet Brad Drew Forum" at the Galpharm Stadium on Tuesday, November 23 (7.45).

Joining Drew on the top table to answer questions will be League Express editor Martyn Sadler, referee Ian Smith, players' agent Martin Shuttleworth and Giants general manager Richard Thewlis.

Admission is free to season ticket holders and Under 16s, or £5 adults and £3 concessions, with money going towards the Giants squadbuilder fund.
