Paul Anderson has backed his three young Giants to rise to the occasion if they get the final nod to represent England Academy in tomorrow’s opening Test against the Australian Schoolboys at Leigh Sports Village.

Forwards Tyler Dickinson, Liam Johnson and Mikey Wood are all in the frame to face the unbeaten tourists in the first of a two-Test series.

And with Dickinson and Johnson having been promoted to the Giants Super League squad for the 2015 season and playing a full part in pre-season training, and Wood starring for the Senior Academy, Anderson knows they won’t let anyone down in the Test arena.

“They’ve all deserved the chance to show what they can do,” said Anderson.

“There’s no doubt they’ll represent the Giants with pride and will show the club in a very positive light.

“In the case of Liam and Tyler, they’ve both worked tremendously hard throughout pre-season, and getting the chance to play against the Australian Schoolboys will help to show how well they’re developing in the full-time environment.

“And isn’t it good to have three Huddersfield Giants players in an England Academy squad?

“That’s another sign of how well the club’s progressing in terms of its junior development, particularly as it’s on the back of Liam having previously been the captain of the England Youth team – a position now held by one of our other young players in Matty English.

“This is a real credit to our junior development team.”
