TALENTED Giants Academy player and Greehead College student James Martin has been picked to play for England Colleges.

The promising centre is the only player from Yorkshire to have been selected, with several of his teammates coming from London.

His selection was secured as a result of his performance in a College trial game against England Academy.

And featuring for the Academy that day was Giants teammate Leroy Cudjoe.

This was the first time Martin and Cudjoe had competed against each other in nine seasons as the pair were teammates at Newsome Panthers before joining the Giants.

Martin is already preparing for life as an England College international, with matches against other nations planned for the New Year.

The squad's first warm-up game has just been held against Australian Under 21s touring team Menai Roosters.

The Australians took the honours with a late breakaway try to seal a game in which the lead changed hands on several occasions.

But hopes are high that by early 2006, Martin and his England squad will be in the perfect shape.

* The Giants now have all sizes of their new-look shirts in stock at the Galpharm stadium superstore and the Sporting Pride shop - and they are continuing to sell well.

Kit manufacturers Outwear upped production and worked throughout last weekend to re-stock the shelves with all sizes in time for Christmas.

"Outwear have made a sensational effort to get all of the shirts to us in time for Christmas, and our thanks go to Outwear for their gesture and effort," said Giants marketing officer Jonathan Wilkinson.

"We cannot reiterate enough that we expect these shirts to sell quickly.

"It is becoming our biggest seller, and any fans who want to make sure they have the shirt in time for Christmas are advised to buy as early as possible to avoid disappointment."

Giants season-ticket holders are reminded to take advantage of the £5 voucher off a replica shirt on the reverse of their season tickets.
