Eorl Crabtree fully expects new Huddersfield Giants signing Craig Huby to take a lot of weight off his shoulders.

Vastly-experienced 32-year-old forward Crabtree was last season forced to play big Super League minutes due to a lack of quality front-row depth.

But with the arrival of England Elite Training Squad prop Huby from Castleford, the Giants now boast five front-row forwards with good top-flight experience under the belt, with Craig Kopczak, Anthony Mullally and Josh Johnson also battling for spots up front.

And Crabtree knows this bodes well for the 2015 campaign, particularly as he also rates fellow new signings Jack Hughes, James Ellis and Oliver Roberts very highly.

“All four are fantastic additions to our squad,” said Crabtree.

“But I’m really excited we’ve signed Craig Huby, who’s a great talent and will help us out massively up front, which is great news for me.

“It was pretty tough at times for me last season, but I know Craig will help in that respect next year.

“He’s got some great hands for a prop, and I’d like to think that together we can form a very effective partnership.

“I know we’ll be able to give it everything during our time on the field, because we’ve got quality front-row back-up.”
