DAVID FA’ALOGO wants the Giants to have nothing left in the tank after tomorrow’s Super League Preliminary Semi-final clash at Warrington Wolves (6.15).

Huddersfield head to the Halliwell Jones Stadium knowing victory would take them to within 80 minutes of a Super League Grand Final appearance at Old Trafford on Saturday, October 2.

The Giants set up this weekend’s eagerly-anticipated showdown after their hard-fought 18-12 triumph over Crusaders at the Galpharm six days ago.

It was hardly a vintage Huddersfield display as they had to rely on a late Leroy Cudjoe try to seal their first-ever Super League play-off success.

But Fa’alogo is confident the Giants will step up a gear this weekend – as long as they are prepared to give 100%.

“These are the games everyone wants to play in, you work all year to get to this point,” said the New Zealand World Cup winner.

“And you know that one poor performance will be the end of the season.

“That’s why it’s vital you give it your absolute best, leave no regrets on the field and come off knowing you’ve given 100%

“If that’s the case no-one can have any real complaints, whether the result is good or not.

“But I know that if we do give it everything tomorrow we’ll give ourselves a very good chance.

“We can beat them.”

With Warrington boasting the likes of Adrian Morley, Garreth Carvell, Ben Westwood and Ben Harrison in their pack, they will prove a tough nut to crack.

But tough back-rower Fa’alogo, who is now getting back to full fitness after an injury-hit first season, is relishing the battle up front.

“We have to make sure we stand up to their players in the middle,” he added.

“Warrington do have a very good pack who get their team going, so we know how important it is for us to stand up to them and not let them get on top.

“I’m sure that’s something we can do, especially if Darrell Griffin keeps up his good form and Keith Mason returns after suspension and plays to his best.

“Then we’ll let our finishers do the rest and get the tries that can win us the game.

“And no-one would be happier than me if that’s what happens.

“The injuries have made it a frustrating first season for me, but if we can go there and win tomorrow night I’ll feel a lot better.

“Although I’m still not 100% (following a lengthy hamstring problem which has been a legacy of his pre-season knee and ankle surgery) I am improving all the time.

“At this stage, I’m playing, which is the main thing, and tomorrow I hope to give a bit more than I did in my previous game.

“I just hope I’m in a position to say I’ll be looking to give the team even more the following week!”

The vastly-experienced pack man will line up again in the Giants second row as head coach Nathan Brown looks to keep changes to the side that beat Crusaders to a minimum.

The main switch will come in the front row, with top prop Mason due to return from suspension in place of Graeme Horne, who picked up a knock in the early stages of last Saturday’s narrow win over the Welsh.

Warrington may field the same side that was beaten 28-12 at home to bogey team St Helens in the Qualifying Play-offs seven days ago.

The winners of the Halliwell Jones clash and tonight’s Wigan v Hull KR game will then face either Saints or Leeds in the Grand Final semi-final the following weekend when St Helens will be able to choose who they face.
