IS it any surprise that acting captain Chris Thorman was named the Giants' Player of the Year?

One look at the end-of-season statistics would prove exactly how valuable he has been to the side in Super League X.

In his side's 25 appearances, the 24-year-old goalkicking stand-off finished top points scorer with 274, top tryscorer with 19 - three ahead of Chris Nero - and leading goalscorer with 99.

He also set a new club Super League record of four tries in the Giants' 68-16 victory over Leigh - another club Super League record - and also became the second highest points scorer in a Super League game with 36 during that match.

Thorman's overall total did not, however, include any drop goals, as the Giants failed to land a single one-pointer this year.

There were also notable achievements for hooker Brad Drew, pictured top right, and Eorl Crabtree, bottom, who were the only ever-presents.
