NEW Giants signing David Faiumu will be given as long as possible to prove he should make his Super League debut at Castleford on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Kiwi Test hooker trained with his new teammates for the first time on Tuesday.

That ended an eight-week wait for the former North Queensland Cowboy, whose arrival in England was delayed due to red tape.

But caretaker coach Kieron Purtill hasn’t ruled out throwing him in against the Tigers this weekend.

“David has fitted in well and created a very positive initial impression,” said Purtill.

“A final decision will be made over the next day or two, but at this stage he is certainly in contention.

“But, on top of that, all 17 who played in the win at Wigan are available, as well as the likes of Eorl Crabtree, Rod Jensen and Shane Elford.

“There are some very tough choices to make before this match.”
