Gutted Leroy Cudjoe says the Giants can’t afford to dwell on their heartbreaking Super 8s home defeat to Leeds Rhinos.

Huddersfield looked to be heading for a top-two finish and first ever home semi-final play-off when Jamie Ellis charged over for a converted try with 15 minutes remaining to lead 16-8.

But an astonishing late Leeds fightback, which culminated in a dramatic last-second winning try from Ryan Hall, denied the Giants and handed the League Leaders Shield to the visitors.

It was a result which sends Huddersfield to Wigan Warriors on Thursday night with a place in the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday, October 10 the prize.

And in-form centre Cudjoe is confident the Giants can put the Leeds loss behind them and rise to the DW Stadium occasion.

“We were obviously bitterly disappointed to lose the other night. We felt we’d done enough to win,” said the 27-year-old.

“But we’ve got to make sure we put that behind us and don’t dwell on it at all. It’s gone now, and all our focus has to be on Wigan on Thursday.

“Our confidence is still very high and we’re really looking forward to going over to Wigan and putting in the performance that’ll get us to Old Trafford.

“We know we only have ourselves to blame for not beating Leeds the other night, and it’s great to have the chance to put that right this week.

“Although we were gutted to lose to Leeds, this game on Thursday is the one that matters the most, and we’ll make sure we’re as well prepared as we possibly can be to take that next big step.”

Meanwhile, the 2015 Super League Dream Team will be unveiled today, with Cudjoe’s wing partner Jermaine McGillvary expected to lead the Giants’ challenge.
