HUDDERSFIELD Giants are urging their fans to help rally support and make Sunday a night to remember.

Ticket sales for the big Super League XII opener against champions St Helens at the Galpharm Stadium (7.05) are continuing to go well.

And with the repeat of the 2006 Challenge Cup final launching the new League campaign, Giants officials know how important it will be to attract a big crowd.

More than 1,000 tickets have been snapped up since they went on general sale earlier this month.

Yet Giants marketing chief James Brammer still knows there's a lot of work to be done to get close to the 10,000 mark.

"We're delighted with the way ticket sales are going, but now's not the time to rest on our laurels," he said.

"We want to fill the stadium with as much claret and gold as possible and make sure we give the boys the support they deserve.

"Everyone knows how tough this match will be.

"It's not every day you host the Super League champions and we know we will need to be at our very best.

"The fans could make all the difference in the world.

"So we are urging as many fans as possible to rally round their friends and get them down for what promises to be a very special night.

"This is the ideal chance to use the 'Friend for a Fiver' scheme, so that friends of season-ticket holders can see for themselves what a truly fantastic product they have on their doorstep.

"We feel privileged to be opening the Super League season at the Galpharm against the reigning champions, and there is a real buzz around the place in anticipation of this fixture.

"Extra ticket-office staff have been recruited for this week to cope with the demand and we encourage all fans to pre-buy their tickets and take advantage of the discounted pre-matchday and family prices."

By pre-buying tickets, fans can save £2 per adult, while Under 12s can secure their ticket for free.

The Galpharm ticket hotline is 0870 4444 552 and the opening hours are 9.00am until 5.00pm between now and Friday and 9.00am to midday on Saturday.
