DARREN FLEARY will play his final game for Huddersfield Giants on Sunday.

The club's Huddersfield-born captain today confirmed the Super League clash against Salford at the Galpharm Stadium (3.00) will be his last in the claret and gold.

The announcement ends months of speculation over his Huddersfield future.

He has not ruled out continuing his playing career with another club or the possibility of moving into coaching.

And the 31-year-old former Great Britain prop would not be short of offers.

But Fleary insists his sole focus at this moment is Sunday's final game of the season against the City Reds.

"This will be my last game for the Giants, and I want to make it a good one," he declared.

"I'm sure it will be an emotional moment, because I've loved playing for my hometown club over the last two seasons.

"When I moved here from Leeds it was on the off-chance. I didn't know what to expect.

"But things really couldn't have gone much better for me or the club.

"I'm proud of being a part of a Huddersfield Giants club that has finally established itself in Super League after years of struggle.

"And as someone from the town, I'm proud to have been club captain.

"Part of me would have liked to have carried on as a player here for another season.

"But having sat down with club officials it was decided this would be my final season as a Giants player.

"I know there's been a lot of talk of me going into coaching, and it's something that does interest me.

"But all they are right now are rumours, nothing more.

"What I intend to do after Sunday is take a break and then carefully weigh up my options.

"I don't want to think about my next move this week, because we've got an important game to play against Salford on Sunday.

"I want to finish my playing career with the Giants on as high a note as possible, and with the minimum amout of distraction.

"The home game against Salford is what really matters."
