RELEASED Giants prop Adam Walker has joined Super League rivals Hull KR for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old was released by Huddersfield after rejecting a two-year contract extension at the end of the last campaign .

Because Walker is a product of the Giants’ Academy system, they were entitled to a transfer fee – the figure of which the two clubs are keen to keep under wraps.

But Giants managing director Richard Thewlis has admitted he’s pleased with the final outcome.

"I am absolutely delighted Adam is fixed up with a club for next season and I’m happy we have received acceptable compensation,” he said.

“I was worried he had gambled and lost on this one as we did offer him a good two-year deal.

“With him having chosen to go into the market place we were due a fee under RFL regulations.

“So for Hull KR to come in at this late stage is great for all concerned and enables Adam to continue as a professional rugby league player which was, in my mind, in some doubt.

“He now has the opportunity to establish himself in their squad and we, of course, have younger props in Anthony Mullally, Josh Johnson and Nathan Mason trying to do the same here.”
