TOP Saints prop Nick Fozzard has warned the play-off chasing Giants to prepare to face a massive Super League backlash!

Huddersfield travel to St Helens tonight (8.00) confident of causing a major upset against their under-strength hosts and bring to an end a run of two wins from their last eight top-flight clashes.

It's a record that has cast serious doubt over the sixth-placed Giants' ability to hold on to a play-off place, with Wakefield now breathing down their necks.

But while the Huddersfield-based Fozzard admits he is delighted to see his former club finally making a positive Super League impression, he expects the McAlpine men to be put under considerable pressure tonight.

Saints are desperate to erase the memory of last week's humilating 70-0 defeat at leaders Leeds Rhinos, and Fozzard believes Huddersfield could suffer the consequences.

"Last Friday we were appalling, and the only way to respond to what happened is to bounce straight back," declared the 27-year-old, who played for the Giants between 1996 and 2000.

"It's the first time St Helens have been nilled in Super League, and that's not gone down well as a squad.

"People have been making excuses for us, saying that we're struggling because of injuries and suspensions.

"But we know we've still got quality in the side and we aim to prove that against Huddersfield.

"Even though we've had two convincing wins against them this season (46-6 in the Challenge Cup and 50-8 in the McAlpine Super League clash three weeks ago), they are a very tough physical side who don't make it easy for you. We've got the ultimate respect for them.

"I'm sure they'll fancy their chances, but we haven't lost at home this season and don't want that to change."
