HUDDERSFIELD Giants are waiting to see if their Super League XV trip to Crusaders on Saturday, April 24 will be played in Wrexham or Newport.

The Welsh club are currently in the process of relocating from Bridgend to Newport’s Rodney Parade, where they will play the majority of their fixtures.

But the Crusaders are keen to spread their footprint to north Wales when possible and are planning to stage several fixtures at Wrexham FC’s Racecourse Ground.

That includes their opener against champions Leeds Rhinos on January 29.

But there is already talk of their fixture against Huddersfield being one of the others to be held in north Wales.

if that were to be the case it would be good news for Giants fans.

Wrexham is around 90 minutes away, while it takes about four hours to get to Newport in south Wales.

The Crusaders’ opening game against Leeds does, in fact, get under way a week ahead of the official start to the new top-flight campaign.

As happened at the start of this year, this fixture was brought forward due to the Leeds’ involvement in the World Club Challenge.
