BRETT HODGSON aims to let no-one down as captain of the Giants in Super League.

With the season proper due to start a week on Saturday at Catalans, he said:

"A lot of high quality players come over from Australia to play here and never get the privilege of captaining one of the top English teams. I’m one of the very fortunate ones who can say they have.

"When I was a kid I always wanted to come and play in England at some stage and, having now been here just over a month, it’s even better than I ever imagined."

And Hodgson believes that with the players he has around him, leading the side will be an unforgettable experience.

"I can’t believe how quickly I’ve settled in and how easily it has been to fit in to this squad," he added.

"From day one, everyone made me feel at home, and I can’t believe how much I’ve enjoyed these first few weeks.

"To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever been at a squad where there have been so many laughs, even though the work has been so hard!

"It’s going to be great leading this group and, as the captain, I just hope I can do the right job for everyone."

The Giants are being linked with a move for Wests Tigers Liam Fulton, a loose forward or half-back.
