HUDDERSFIELD Giants are today celebrating the confirmation of Richard Lopag in the England Schools Under 16s squad to face France next month.
The Giants Scholarship pupil and world record tryscorer has been named in a 22-man squad for the French tour.
Also included in a strong squad is Huddersfield-based Jason Crookes, who is on the books of Bradford Bulls.
England will play two international matches and a fixture against a Regional Select side.
The opening international will be in Perpignan on Monday, April 17, followed by a match on April 20 against a French Regional Select in Albi.
The second international will also be in Albi on April 23.
Lopag is expected to play a key role at centre where he has become the most lethal strike force in the modern junior game.
He holds the world record for the number of tries in a seaon (169) and most hat tricks in a season with 43.
He signed a new three-year deal with the Giants in January, with club officials delighted their man has been confirmed in the squad.
"We're all delighted for Richard," said Giants football manager Stuart Sheard.
"He is clearly one of the most talented players in the junior game, and the fact he will be playing for England backs that up.
"He always works hard in training and we see next month's tour as a reward for all the hard work he has been putting in.
"Playing against the French will be excellent for his future development in the game.
"He is progressing very well under our Scholarship programme, and the experience of going on a tour like this can only help improve him still further.
"We are sure he will prove a big success on tour, which will boost his confidence."
