NATHAN BROWN has admitted last night’s 16-6 home play-off defeat to Catalans Dragons has taken some of the gloss off a magnificent season for Huddersfield Giants.

Although the Giants reached the Challenge Cup final and finished a club record third in Super League, their season finished on a negative note.

But Brown was still proud of his players’ effort over the season and is confident they will be able to build on that for Super League XV.

“This was obviously not the way we wanted to go out and we are all disappointed with the way it went,” said Brown.

“But we shouldn’t let this take too much away from what we have achieved this year.

“If we had predicted at the start of the year that we would have reached Wembley and finished third in Super League people would have laughed at us.

“But that is what we have achieved and I know that one of our main goals has to be a more consistent side – but what we have done bodes well for the future.”

Centre Jamahl Lolesi suffered a head injury and was sent to hospital for checks, but coach Brown was hopeful that the injury was not too serious.
