HUDDERSFIELD Giants' Junior Academy side warmed up for Saturday's semi-final play-off clash against Leeds at Headingley (11.00) with a superb 62-20 triumph over Salford at Laund Hill.

The Giants dominated from start to finish, although it was in the second half that coach Chris Plume's side really cut loose.

With Luke George and Ashley Johnson outstanding in a top team performance, the home side led 22-8 at half-time before going to town in the second 40 minutes.

It took 19 minutes for the Giants to open their account with a try from Simon George, which was goaled by Danny Garside, who went on to land nine of the 11 conversions.

And by half-time, three further tries had been added.

Luke George was the second to strike in the 21st minute and was then followed by Ryan Heeley and James Martin.

But the best was still to come.

Within four minutes of the restart, Garside had scored the Giants' fifth try, and by the end of the contest a further six had been added.

Johnson led the way with two of the efforts, with the others coming from Chris Donlan, Leroy Cudjoe, Chris Lawson and Luke George.

It was an excellent effort from the side, with a repeat performance vital if they are to make any further progress at Headingley this weekend.
