THE Giants have launched a new partnership with Huddersfield New College which will see them take control of all of the organisation’s rugby league matters.

The link-up will widen the net for the club as they seek to continue to find future Super League stars, with the Giants committed to providing aspiring players with quality professional coaching to enhance their game.

And Giants Player Performance Manager Peter Riding believes the link-up will benefit both organisations.

“I’m delighted with the partnership,” he said. “It will widen our net with regards to finding good young players within the local region.

“One of the big things at the club is the fact we are trying to build a really good pathway from amateur football right through to the Super League.

“Players like Michael Lawrence, Leroy Cudjoe and Chris Lawson have all been at Huddersfield New College and they came through that system, so it’s evidence that it does work.

“What we need to do is improve on that and make the pathway a little bit smarter so we can constantly produce players that have the quality of these three.”

And New College’s Jamie Marsden added: “The link between the College and the Giants will be a fantastic opportunity for individuals to come and gain academic qualifications as well as nurture their Rugby abilities.”
