NATHAN BROWN admits Jermaine McGilvary has had an extra spring in his step at training this week.
While the Giants were storming to their 54-6 Super League triumph at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, winger McGilvary was scorching over for five tries for on-loan club Batley Bulldogs in their big 48-24 home triumph over Whitehaven in the Co-operative Championship.
It was obviously the 21-year-old’s biggest try return in a professional game, with Brown admitting it’s put the youngster in an excellent frame of mind.
"He’s been very happy around training this week, and why not," said Brown.
"It’s not every day someone scores five tries in the game, and I’m delighted for him.
"We obviously try and watch as many of our on-loan players on DVD as much as possible, and the other day we were burning quite a few of them onto the computer.
"I don’t think Jermaine’s five tries were among them, but I wouldn’t be surprise if a copy of it mysteriously appears over the next few days!"
