HUDDERSFIELD Giants will launch the Super League XII season.

The Galpharm Stadium will host a Challenge Cup final rematch between the Giants and reigning Super League champions St Helens on Friday, February 2 (8.00).

It will be the only Super League match played in the opening salvo of the 2007 season and will be screened live on Sky Sports.

The showdown has been brought forward to enable St Helens to play their World Club Challenge showdown with Australian champions Brisbane Broncos on Friday, February 23. Huddersfield will, therefore, have a free weekend then.

Jon Sharp's side follow their Saints' opener with a trip to Bradford Bulls on Sunday, February 11, before playing host to new boys Hull KR a week later.

The fixture list, released today, also confirms the Giants will play Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in their 'On the Road' game at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday, May 6 (2.00).

That match is one of four derbies with the Wildcats next season.

Huddersfield have home fixtures against former Giants coach John Kear's men on Friday, April 6, and Sunday, September 9 and a trip to Belle Vue on Sunday, July 15.

The April 6 clash is the Good Friday game, with the Giants at Warrington Wolves on Easter Monday.

As well as the opener, the Giants' home game against Bradford (May 18) and matches at Hull KR (April 27) and St Helens (June 30) are also on Sky.
