HUDDERSFIELD’S Junior Academy side suffered a 44-22 home defeat to unbeaten leaders St Helens at the DRAM Centre.

This was always going to be a massive test for the hosts against a Saints side that have won all 14 of their Under 18s’ clashes.

But the Giants gave a good account of themselves, particularly in the opening half as they were trailing just 12-4 at the break.

In the second half, St Helens took the game out of Huddersfield’s reach, although they still finished with their creditable 22 points thanks to 14 points from Ed Barber with two tries and three goals and other touchdowns from Roberts and Worthington.
