JACK and his beanstalk will be nowhere in sight when a gang of Giants appear in a Huddersfield panto next week.

Super League players from the Huddersfield Giants rugby league team are to tread the boards in a one-off performance during the run of Huddersfield Light Opera Company's Dick Whittington, which starts tonight.

The special guests will be on stage at the Lawrence Batley Theatre next Tuesday.

In the spotlight will be players Julian Bailey, Eorl Crabtree, Stanley Gene, Iain Morrison, Paul Reilly, Mick Slicker and Darren Turner.

Their appearance will help raise extra cash for the Giants and help boost interest in the start of the new Super League season.

The club has been selling tickets to its fans.

The burly thespians will appear on stage four times - playing giant rats.

And with just one rehearsal to fit around training, they have asked there be no lines to learn.
