DEFEATED Crusaders coach John Dixon has heaped praise on the Giants for the way they played against his side.

The Welshmen have now lost their opening 11 Super League XIV fixture and never remotely looked like breaking that duck against Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown’s side.

But rather than focus on the Crusaders’ continuing tale of woe, Dixon believes a lot of the attention should be focussed on the Giants.

“As a coach, you acknowledge the good work Huddersfield did,” said the Australian.

“We had some opportunities and field position in the first half, but Huddersfield did an outstanding job on us defensively.

“At the same time, our defence wasn’t up to the task.

“We missed too many one-on-one tackles. Huddersfield challenged us a whole lot and we didn’t answer some of these challenges.

“Yes, it is very tough for us, but at least we kept on going right to the end.

“But the simple fact was that the opposition were just far too good in every area.”
