GIANTS ace Luke Robinson is aiming to provide the creative spark to stun St Helens and make it two Super League XIV victories out of two.

The 24-year-old scrum half hit top form in France a week ago, producing a man-of-the-match display as Huddersfield romped to a 30-8 triumph against Catalans Dragons.

That’s put Robinson and his Giants teammates in confident mood ahead of tomorrow’s opening Galpharm test against Saints (3.00).

And the former Wigan half-back is desperate to play another starring role on the back of such an outstanding effort in the South of France.

“Last Saturday was absolutely fantastic,” said Robinson, who has struck up an excellent half-back partnership with in-form stand-off Kevin Brown.

“After a poor result away at Catalans last season it was great to go back and get a positive result this time round.

“There’s a real buzz around the place and there’s a great camaraderie between all the coaching staff and the players.

“Everyone is enjoying their rugby and when you enjoy training and playing, the results will come and that was obvious last Saturday.”

But even though Robinson believes the Giants took a huge step in the right direction a week ago, he knows the importance of guarding against complacency when Challenge Cup holders Saints come to town.

And that’s despite Saints being rocked by the news regular front-row forwards Jason Cayless (shoulder) and Man of Steel James Graham (hamstring) have been ruled out through injury.

“As players, these are the games you want to play in,” he added. “It will be a great challenge, the boys are confident after last week’s performance and we can’t wait to get out there in front of the home crowd.

“Obviously, it’s a difficult first home start for us. “St Helens are a fantastic team with some great players, but we believe that if we perform to our best we are as good as any team in the Super League.

“It’s a great chance for us to prove our ambitions in front of our home fans for the first time this season, and I’m desperate to build on last week and do what I can to make sure we start our home campaign as strongly as possible.”
